London Calling

On the patio of a McDonalds restaurant, at six o'clock a.m., somewhere near the dicey Tenderloin district of San Francisco. A pigeon and I wait patiently for Joe to finish an hour-long conference call with some people in London. It was too noisy to have the call inside; Gloria Gaynor was playing loudly on the speakers above each table and an elderly woman of questionable sanity refused to stop believing that she was a kangaroo.
